Writer’s Repose

Proof that change can be good is on display at an 11,000-square-foot home in Stuart that had once been a 1930s Dorothy Draper-inspired palace of bright pinks and deep greens. Over the years, the maximalist touches that had defined the residence as a classic beauty in its heyday became antiquated, and its closed-off interiors, outdated technology, and lack of connection with the outdoors made it unsuitable for modern living. Then, interior designer Gloria Black stepped into the picture.

Bark & Build: The Ultimate Dog House Challenge is a fun and lively fundraising event to benefit SNIP Collier. This year’s event showcased some of Naples’ top creative talent from the local real estate industry. Nine teams each created a custom dog house, competed for Best in Show and, ultimately, the highest bid. Teams included an architect, builder, interior designer, and real estate agent. These unique dog houses were sold through a live auction at the SNIP Collier annual gala at the Ritz Carlton Naples Tiburón Golf Club.
